Aerated drinks supplier researches

What are nitro drinks?

Nitro drink is that nitrogen (N2) is added to liquids to give them a rich, silky texture and a creamy, thick foam head. Guinness is the most well-known nitro beverage.

The foam head and smooth texture contribute significantly to the allure of nitrogen-charged beverages, creating drinks that you enjoy, taking your time to truly enjoy. By infusing nitrogen into beverages, the need for added sugar or sweeteners is reduced, as natural gas creates a sweet taste.

Like with carbon dioxide, nitrogen does not create acidity, thus removing it from the taste of the drink. This also makes nitro drinks a better choice for people with acid reflux or stomach problems when drinking carbonated beverages.

The chemistry of nitrogen’s drink appeal

The appeal of nitro brewed coffee, nitro beer, and other nitro drinks is threefold because they are textured, taste appealing, and visually appealing.

Carbon dioxide or C02 is the substance traditionally used to add carbonates to beverages. It creates that familiar foamy texture and releases the aromatics, allowing you to smell your drink. C02 is highly soluble in beverages, which means it dissolves well in water and comes out of solution relatively slowly. This is what causes the large bubbles that result in a frothy texture in the drink.

On the other hand, nitrogen is about 50 times less soluble than C02. So, when nitrogen gas is infused into the beverage, it quickly exits the solution, forming smaller bubbles and finer cotton, which manifests as a fine, slightly thick and silky texture with a foam tip.

In addition to improved palatability and taste, nitro drinks are visually remarkable and should always be served in clear glasses or cups, allowing customers to enjoy the foaming process.
